Iris Halverson
Iris founded the studio in 2014 after a decade at Studio Peregalli in Milan and formative years with a heritage workshop in Jaipur. Her work centres on craft, patina, and the quiet authority of well-aged spaces.
Atelier Verdant was founded in 2014 by Iris Halverson, after a decade working in the studios of Milan and Mumbai. We are now a team of seven — designers, a cabinetmaker, an antiquarian, and a project director — working from a single drawing room in Lower Parel.
Our work is slow, deliberate, and unhurried by fashion. We believe that the best interiors are made by people who know their craft, their materials, and the long history of the rooms they are asked to shape. We are interested in patina — and in the discipline of specifying finishes that will age into something better than they began.
We accept a small number of new commissions each year, and we work in the company of architects, joiners, and craftspeople we have known for over a decade. The result is work that feels inevitable, considered, and at home in the world.
Iris founded the studio in 2014 after a decade at Studio Peregalli in Milan, where she trained under Roberto Peregalli and Laura Sartori Rimini. Her work centers on craft, patina, and the quiet authority of well-aged spaces.
She studied at the Architectural Association, and holds a degree in the History of Art from the Courtauld. She is a regular lecturer at the Royal College of Art and a member of the RIBA.
The studio is intentionally small. We share a single drawing room, a single library of material samples, and a single conviction that good work comes from long attention.

Lou leads our retail and hospitality commissions. Trained at Central Saint Martins, she brings a theatrical eye and an obsessive interest in materials.
Anouk oversees our joinery and lighting commissions. She trained as a cabinetmaker in Copenhagen before joining the studio in 2019.
Mateo manages procurement and logistics for our largest projects. He is unflappable, meticulous, and beloved by every workshop we work with.
Sora joined the studio in 2023 after graduating from the RCA. She leads our color and material research.
Elise keeps the studio running with grace and good humor. She is the first voice you will hear when you call.
“Iris didn't decorate our home — she understood it. Every object, every fabric, every corner feels inevitable, as if it had always been there waiting.”
“The level of considered detail was extraordinary. Six months after handover, the team still calls to ask how the rooms are living.”
“A studio that listens more than it speaks — and the spaces they create are all the more eloquent for it.”
