Atelier Verdant · 2026

Aprocesswithouthurry.

Our process is not a project management chart. It is the shape of a long, careful conversation between a designer, a client, and a building — and it begins, always, with listening.

/ IFour principles

Before the first drawing,
four convictions.

i.

Listen first

The most important work happens before we ever pick up a pencil. We listen — to the building, the client, the way light moves through the rooms.

ii.

Specify less

A room of considered objects will always outlast a room of many. We specify what is necessary, and we specify it well.

iii.

Trust the workshop

We are lucky to work with craftspeople we have known for over a decade. We trust their judgement, and we make a point of introducing them to our clients by name.

iv.

Move slowly

We have never been asked to work faster. We work at the pace the building asks for, and we are glad of it.

to the last lamp.

Step 01

Discovery

We begin with a long, unhurried conversation — about how you live, what you collect, and what you want a space to feel like. We visit the site, photograph its light, and listen for what the building already wants to be.

Deliverables
  • Site visit
  • Lifestyle brief
  • Initial site analysis
II
Step 02

Concept

A first, considered response: mood boards, palette studies, material samples, and a spatial narrative. We present in person, with fabric swatches and stone samples in hand. Nothing is final until you are moved by it.

Deliverables
  • Mood boards
  • Palette and material boards
  • Spatial narrative

Step 03

Design Development

Drawings, specifications, and a procession of bespoke pieces take shape. We collaborate closely with architects, joiners, and craftspeople — many of whom we have worked with for over a decade.

Deliverables
  • Technical drawings
  • Bespoke designs
  • Joinery drawings

Step 04

Procurement

A dedicated project director manages every order, shipment, and customs clearance. We track each piece from workshop to site, photograph it on arrival, and store it carefully until installation day.

Deliverables
  • Order tracking
  • Customs & logistics
  • Quality control

Step 05

Installation

A choreography of craftsmen, art handlers, and florists — sometimes over many weeks. We are present for every moment: placing a lamp, leveling a rug, choosing which book goes where on the library shelf.

Deliverables
  • Full installation
  • Art & object placement
  • Final styling

A house is not a project. It is a long relationship with a place, a family, and a future. We try to design for all three.

We accept a small number of new commissions
each year.

If you have a project in mind — eighteen months or more away, or sooner — we would be glad to hear from you.
