Verdant House
A study in quiet luxury
The clients — a literary editor and a vintner — sought a home that could host long, candlelit dinners and a quiet library life in equal measure. Our response: rooms of measured warmth, hand-troweled plaster in cream and clay, and a hand-selected procession of antiques from the surrounding shires.
A country residence reimagined as a contemporary sanctuary of patinated brass, lime-washed walls, and curated antique silhouettes.
The design centres on a quiet procession of rooms, each with its own material vocabulary — patinated brass and lime plaster in the entrance; deep emerald and oak in the library; calacatta viola marble and hand-loomed linen in the dining room. We worked closely with the client over eighteen months, and with a team of craftspeople drawn from our long-standing network of workshops.
