/ 02The brief

The owner — a sixth-generation wine merchant — asked for a home that would honor his family's trade. We preserved the concrete vats, restored the original beams, and built a long, communal table from a single reclaimed oak plank.

/ 03The response

A converted chai reimagined as a residence centered on the rituals of wine and dining.

The design centres on a quiet procession of rooms, each with its own material vocabulary — patinated brass and lime plaster in the entrance; deep emerald and oak in the library; calacatta viola marble and hand-loomed linen in the dining room. We worked closely with the client over eighteen months, and with a team of craftspeople drawn from our long-standing network of workshops.
